How do I get and play movies?
You need at least two things in order to access BitTorent network and play movies. First, you need a BitTorrent client. Second, you need a movie player. You use the BitTorrent client to read the metainfo and access the network. Once you received the content, you run the movie player (such as Windows Media Player (TM)) to play the movie. Of course, you may also need to pay for the contents.
We offer a service for you to find the metainfo files available on the BitTorrent network.
Brian's BitTorrent FAQ and Guide is one of the best sites where you can learn more about the BitTorrent and usage.

What is BitTorrent?
BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer (or P2P) protocol used for the distribution of large files. BitTorrent speeds up the process by partitioning the content into segments and peers can exchange multiple segments simultaneously. User has a better control over the local storage and the content, which leads to better security and protection against malware. BitTorrent's nature of progressive data exchange can also effectively reduce the cost of delivering files for a content provider.
According to Wikipedia, BitTorrent exchange now accounts for ~35% of all traffic on the entire Internet.
For detailed technical information, please read BitTorrent Protocol (v1.33). You may also find more information at the official site www.bittorrent.org. We also recommend

BitCorrent Client
A BitTorrent client is a computer program to download and upload (share) files via the BitTorrent protocol. You need to acquire and install the client program on your computer in order to utilize the torrents. Many high quality and free clients are available today.
Comparison of BitTorrent Software is available on Wikipedia. Check the column and make sure the client you are using is Malware-free.
Commonly used BitTorrent clients include:
- The official BitTorrent client - Original client software.
- Arctic Torrent - A minimal client, focus on low memory and CPU usage.
- ABC (Another BitTorrent Client) - Extended from Original Bittorrent Core System , coded by Bram Cohen. Added features include controlling multiple downloads from a single window, queuing, automatic seeding.
- uTorrent - A reliable and easy to use client. The operation has been acquired by BitTorrent. This is the download software we would recommend.
- Azureus - Java based cross-platform client.
- Burst! - Small memory footprint due to replacing the wxPython GUI with one written in Delphi.

Any Legal Issues?
Fire sharings are not equal to media pirates. On Tuesday, May 9th, 2006, Time Warner Signed a Video Distribution Deal with BitTorrent, the most widely used file-sharing system.
"Warner Bros. is in the business of making its movies and TV shows available to as wide an audience as possible. The launch of a legal BitTorrent online video service allows us to extend our reach to places our content would not ordinarily be found legally and opens up new opportunities. Entering into agreements such as this to distribute our content is not only a better way to reach existing and new customers but a reflection of the critical role distribution technologies play in the future of the entertainment industry," said Darcy Antonellis, Executive Vice President, Distribution Technology & Operations, Warner Bros. Entertainment said in a statement.
Please note that the torrents do not contain any copyrighted contents. BitTorrent is only a protocol. This website does not host any media contents and any copyrighted material here. Nor do we host the torrents themselves.
We strongly encourage user to find the legal contents. Not to download the contents that contains copyrighted materials.

Metainfo .Torrent
BitTorrent based P2P sharing operates on a small metadata file called "torrent". Prior to share the content, the matainfo needs to be downloaded first. Typically the file is named <name>.torrent by the convention.
The download client software needs the torrent file in order to contect the tracker and communicate with other peers.

Seeders and Leechers
A seeder is the peer who has the seed, a complete copy of the content as described by the torrent. To be fair with the community, peers are urged to stay seeding the content after the downloading so other peers can continue receive the data. A leecher is a peer who is currently downloading. As a matter of fact, leechers are also "seeding" the portion of the data that have already been downloaded to the leecher's machine. So a peer is called leecher only because the peer doesn't have a complete copy of the content.

What is the "port forwarding"?
Port forwarding is the extra element that an average user perhaps never had to deal with, particularly outside of P2P wourld. It is indeed confusing, partly feuled by conflicting descriptions over the blogs and inconsist setup schemes in various version of BitTorrent client programs.
BitTorrent client program uses network ports outside of existing Inteenet traffic for a direct peer-to-peer connection. Many times your network modems, routers and firewall software might have setup to block traffic to the network ports that the BitTorrent client intented to use. Don't worry about it if you don't use a router.
uTorrent, for example, has a port forwarding test in the speed configuration. The test would fail in many cases but the program worked just fine without it. But the speed would be very slow.
To configure the port forwarding, first find the local network IP address of the machine (your home network, for instance). Open a command prompt window if you have a PC and type ipconfig. It typically sets to something like 192.168.1.101. On Mac OS X, go Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Network -> configuration box.
Next is to setup your router and firewall to direct all traffic from ports 6881-6889 (or another range of ports matching the torrent client) to the IP address of the computer running the client program.
On LinkSys wireless router WRT54G, for example, login by setting the browser address to the router, like http://192.168.1.1/ and type in login and password. Once logged in, click "Applications & Gaming", enter the start and end of Port Range, and enable the IP Address for the computer. That should be it!

My player shows sound and no video
Check if you have the display codec required for the video content. For example, many contents need divX. In that case, go to www.divx.com and install the free download.
